Born and educated in Britain, I have a degree from Sheffield City Polytechnic (now Sheffield Hallam University). I hold the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) and the Diploma of Translation (DipTrans). I am a Chartered Linguist certified by the Institute of Linguists.
I grew up bilingual so switching between languages is something that I have done all my life. I have twenty years’ experience as a legal interpreter and translator in the UK criminal justice system. From 1998 onwards, I started to interpret, as I still do, for many South American congressional delegations invited to the UK as guests of the British Council, Her Majesty’s Government and parliamentary organisations. Specifically, I have been a Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office-accredited Interpreter since 1998. https://gomezprofessionalservices.com/images/FCO-Assmt-Lttr-scaled.jpgThis wonderful experience has led to me working in a great variety of subject areas and these are listed in my specialisations.
I am also a conference interpreter in the private sector for multinational companies and international organisations, including the United Nations.
When I interpret at conferences, my ability to help speakers and delegates to communicate between languages means that key messages are not lost and that the delivery of speeches and panel discussions is conveyed accurately.
My legal work led me into the field of medical translations and I have delivered many translations relating to life sciences and medical articles since 2014. I have translated over 150 medical articles and hospital documents for Lionbridge.
The correct translation of medical documents is especially important because these articles convey vital information to healthcare professionals and researchers, who need an authentic translation of the original to work safely and effectively. I have the expertise and the skill to deliver accurate translations in specific medical specialisms.
Professional Accreditation
I am accredited by the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI) and the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL). The CIoL has certified me as a Chartered Linguist.
